Message from Pastor David Walker of Alamo City Christian Fellowship (click here)
Dear Pastor,
When abortion became legal in 1973, women were told it was a safe, simple solution. But nearly 33 years later, another reality is evident: Abortion is devastating. It has long-lasting, far-reaching harmful emotional, physical, and spiritual effects that include grief, fear, shame, guilt, anxiety, depression, nightmares, relationship problems with children and spouses, drug and alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts and attempts, and other self-destructive behavior. The killing of unborn children through abortion is a horrific tragedy, but America has yet to grasp the terrible harm abortion does to women and how destructive it is to marriages and families. You can help change this by helping them find forgiveness and healing. If we are to see an end to abortion, it will be the Lord moving through His people offering love and hope. We want to assist you and encourage you to reach out to these women, and to help them find hope and healing in the church. We believe it is as important to reach these women with God’s love as it is to speak out against the evils of abortion. Many women, fearful of telling even relatives or close friends, are suffering alone, believing that pro-life individuals and groups – even churches – will condemn and reject them. You can help these women break the silence and open the door to confession and repentance, which leads to hope and healing. The most powerful and effective outreach is to have one or two women give their personal testimony, followed by a call to hope and healing through a Bible-based abortion-recovery program in your church or through a local pregnancy care center. Many pastors have found this to be the key to unlocking the silence and pain of abortion. We encourage you to join us in raising the conscience of America to restore justice, to bring an end to mothers killing their own children, and to help those hurt by abortion find hope and healing. Please consider the suggestions below concerning how you can make a difference. What could be more meaningful than to help stop the destruction of abortion that is driving a stake in the heart and soul of America?
Sincerely,
Allan E. Parker, Jr., President The Justice Foundation

How to get started in your church
First and foremost, begin with prayer. Join with us in crying out to God to end the tragedy of abortion.
Consider outreach efforts to those hurting by abortion:
-
Personal testimonies in adult Sunday School classes, women’s ministries, men’s ministries, and during worship services.
-
Offering abortion-recovery classes or referral to local sources.
-
Bulletin inserts and newsletter articles.
-
Publicize the National HELPLINE for Abortion Recovery, which is confidential and toll-free. Calls are answered by caring individuals who have experienced abortion. The HELPLINE is administered by Concepts of Truth, Inc., which is director by Millie Lace, M.S.E., Licensed Professional Counselor.
I cannot express the thanks I have in me for you all allowing me to spend part of your weekend with you and those very special ladies. I have been touched in the inner most part of my heart and will not allow this feeling to fade. God has shown me His ability to forgive and to restore in a way I had not experienced before. Your ministry is one of tenderness. Thank you for letting me be such a small part of it. I pray we will continue to walk together in this life changing journey. – Tom Nolan, Coordinator-Pastoral Care Alamo City Christian Fellowship, San Antonio.
