First government study of abortion in 30 years finds abortion severely harmful-  The legislatively created South Dakota Task Force to Study Abortion conclusively found that abortion has severe harmful consequences to women and recommends banning abortion. The study - the first government study of its kind in the nation - submitted to the governor and the state legislature, quotes extensively from the approximately 2000 affidavits collected by Operation Outcry. The task force was commissioned last year by the state legislature to study the impact of abortion since it was legalized by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
